Who is this course for?

The Rail Track Certifier Course (also known as the 52/53 course) is the necessary course to be able to certify track following inspection, examination, maintenance, and renewal/upgrading works.

 

Students can expect to learn measurement methods for correcting track geometry defects, how to identify faults and appropriate repair methods, track deterioration rates under differing operating conditions, and much more.

Course Structure

The Rail Track Certifier Course is made up of the following modules:

  • TLIB3094 - Check and repair track geometry

  • TLIB3095 - Check and repair points and crossings

  • TLIB3099 - Examine track infrastructure

  • TLIB3100 - Visually inspect track infrastructure

* Initial theory delivery will take place over 4 days. Following this, students must complete a log book. Upon completion of the log book, students will return for a 5th day for final sign off.

Role Requirements

Participants must hold the following competencies or equivalent units prior to working as an operator:

 - Railway Medical Category 3

 - Construction Industry White Card (CPCWHS1001)

 - Safely access the rail corridor​ - TLIF0020 (or equivalent)

​ - A full Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (TLI27121), including the following modules (or equivalent):

  • TLIB0012 Maintain and use hand tools

  • TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods 

  • TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication

  • TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures 

  • TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies

  • TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals

  • TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure

  • TLIB2121 Maintain rail joints

  • TLIS2030 Carry out track ballasting

  • TLIS2031 Install railway sleepers

  • TLIS2044 Carry out rail installation

  • TLIS2034 Install and repair rail fastening systems

 

*All students must be aged 18 years or older to enroll
